ANTANANARIVO -- The Malagasy delegation left Madagascar Tuesday evening for the London Olympic Games.
"Officially, the delegation is composed of 26 people, including seven athletes, their coaches and team leaders, officials from Madagascar's Olympic Committee and three journalists," the president of Madagascar's Olympic Committee, Siteny Andriasoloniaiko, said during a press conference here Tuesday.
Madagascar had only three athletes qualified for the London Olympic Games. They are Soloniaina Josiane Patricia in the women's wrestling 72kg division, Fetra Ratsimiziva in the men's judo 81kg class and Nathalia Rakotondramanana in the women's weightlifting.
Madagascar also received four wild cards, including two in swimming for Fils Rabetsara Alain Estellah and Ramanantsoa Tsilavina Mamitina as well as two others in athletics for Ali Kame and Saholinirina Eliane.
This is Madagascar's 12th appearance in the Olympic Games.
