LAGOS -- The Nigerian Olympic Committee (NOC) Tuesday officially announced the list of the country's athletes and officials to the 30th Olympiad scheduled for between July 27 and Aug. 12.
Spokesperson for the NOC Tony Ubani told Xinhua that no fewer than 116 athletes are to represent Nigeria in eight sports codes at the 2012 London Olympic Games.
The Team Nigeria Contingent is expected to hit the Games Village in London from their bases in Germany and Surrey, England on Tuesday.
According to the contingent list released by the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) in Lagos at the conclusion of the Delegation Registration Meeting (DRM), the team is made up of 55 athletes, 12 coaches, 29 administrative officials and nine medical officers.
Others are five contingent officials and six secretariat officials.
The eight sports are: athletics, basketball, boxing, canoeing, table tennis, taekwondo, weightlifting and wrestling.
Forty nine persons, including 29 athletes, 14 coaches and two administrative staff make up the athletics contingent while basketball has a team of 16, comprising 12 players, two coaches and two accompanying officials.
Boxing has a total of seven, three boxers, two coaches and two accompanying officials.
Others are: Canoeing to be represented by four persons - an athlete, a coach and two administrative staff; table tennis has eight, four athletes - two coaches and two accompanying officials. taekwondo (six), two practitioners, two coaches and two administrative staff.
The rest are: weightlifting (5), two weightlifters, a coach and two other officials; Wrestling (seven), four wrestlers, a coach and two administrative officers, while the contingent officials, numbering 20, have six from the NOC, nine medical personnel and five other officials.
