BEIJING, June 10 (Xinhua) -- A mainland official in charge of Taiwan affairs arrived on the island Wednesday to solicit opinions on a cross-Straits economic and cultural forum to be held on the mainland next month.
Zheng Lizhong, deputy director of the Taiwan Work Office of Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, will hold talks with the Kuomintang (KMT) authorities on issues relating to the Fifth Cross-Straits Economic, Trade and Cultural Forum in July.
Zheng who heads a six-member delegation will tour the island to consult members of the Taiwan public about improving cooperation and exchanges across the Straits.
