Peru's national brew, Pisco, was promoted at a special event held in the Expo Center yesterday. A liquor expert from Peru described the history, distillation process, characteristics and consumption of their proud alcohol to the Chinese audience.
The liquor distilled from grapes is produced in the Ica region and got its name from the Pisco city and from a pottery container called Pisco, said Cristina Vallarino, an acclaimed Peruvian Pisco specialist.
There are different kinds of Pisco such as Mosto Verde, Italia, Quebranta, Puro and Acholado. They vary in flavor, aroma, viscosity and appearance due to different grapes.
