TEHRAN, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Thursday urged major polluters of the environment to accept and fulfill their international commitments, the official IRNA news agency reported.
"Those who contributed the most to environment pollution should accept international obligations and be committed to them," Ahmadinejad told reporters prior to his departure for Denmark on Thursday.
Danish capital Copenhagen hosts the ongoing UN Conference of the Parties (COP) meeting on climate change. Ahmadinejad is expected to deliver a speech in the conference on Thursday.
Iran attached great importance to the issue of the climate change which endangered the lives of all peoples and creatures, he was quoted as saying.
The Iranian president will discuss Iran's proposals for fighting global warming, the report said.
