BEIJING -- The Chinese mainland and Taiwan agreed on Thursday to put the cross-Strait nuclear power safety agreement into effect on Friday, June 29.
The mainland's Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS) and the Taiwan-based Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF) are prepared to implement the agreement, according to an ARATS statement.
The agreement was signed last October by ARATS and SEF to boost cross-Strait cooperation in the monitoring of nuclear power safety and ensure the health of both the environment and residents on both sides.
