XIAMEN -- China's top political advisor Jia Qinglin said on Sunday that the momentum for the development of relations between the mainland and Taiwan comes from grassroots exchanges.
Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), made the remarks while delivering a keynote speech at the ongoing third Straits Forum that opened Saturday evening.
"The people at the grassroots levels on both sides of the Taiwan Strait are the momentum that drives the Straits Forum, and the vitality of the relations between the mainland and Taiwan is rooted in grassroots-level exchanges," Jia said.
