XIAMEN, -- China's top political advisor Jia Qinglin will deliver a keynote speech on Sunday at the third Straits Forum, the largest ever grassroots mainland-Taiwan exchange platform, held in southeast China's city of Xiamen.
The sound development of relations between the mainland and Taiwan "must be maintained" and "progress must be advanced," said Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), on Saturday when meeting with Taiwan guests in Xiamen of Fujian Province to attend the week-long forum that opened Saturday evening.
Jia said hardships and problems will be conquered and more understanding and support from the Taiwan public will be earned, as long as both sides build mutual trust and solve problems gradually, "with easier things first."
