Guangdong, which claims the first company to attract a Taiwanese investor on the Chinese mainland 20 years ago, now has over 14,400 such companies, the most in the country.
Government statistics show that Guangdong has made over 12 billion US dollars from those companies, 90 percent of which are located in the Pearl River Delta, comprising such cities as Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Dongguan.
Cai Zhengfu, vice-president of an electrical appliance company in Shenzhen, said, "Shenzhen is the right place for us."
Experts say this shows Taiwanese businessmen have confidence inGuangdong's development.
Such Taiwanese are expanding their businesses to other places in China like Shanghai and Tianjin. (2002-07-02)
