The endeavor was undertaken by the Beijing Art Academy and was co-sponsored by the Publicity Department of the Beijing Municipal Committee and the Beijing Culture Bureau.
The event will be the first to display a series of six different painting exhibitions titled the Charms of Beijing. One gallery per year will open until the event is in full bloom in 2008 and six albums will be published to further circulate the paintings.
76 works were selected and are mainly traditional Chinese and oil paintings.
