Cross-Strait exchange activities, which were interrupted by SARS, have resumed with the arrival of students and teachers from Taiwan in Fujian Province. Delegates from Taiwan's Kaohsiung University of Applied Sciences are in Fuzhou, the capital city of Fujian, for the Fujian-Taiwan College Exchange Event.
Most of the students currently visiting Fujian have their roots there. But it's the first time they have set foot on the land of their ancestors. So besides taking in the scenery and historical sites they are enjoying meeting their student counterparts in Fujian. At Fuzhou University, students from both sides of the Strait have had lively discussions about their shared heritage and the development of culture in Fujian and Taiwan.
As more companies from Taiwan choose to invest in Fujian, the working environment in Fujian is becoming more attractive to young people from Taiwan. Teachers from Taiwan said that their students find the exchange experience helpful if they have future plans to work in Fujian.
