The first cross-straits economic forum opens on Friday in Beijing. The two-day forum will focus on economic exchanges and direct flights across the Taiwan Straits. The attendees will include many top officials from the Kuomintang, the Chinese Communist Party, business leaders, as well as well-known economists.
The KMT delegation will be headed by the Honorary Chairman Lien Chan. The forum was originally scheduled to be held in Taipei in December. But the two parties decided to move the event to Beijing due to the interference of the Taiwan authorities.
CCTV International will bring you live coverage on the opening ceremony of the cross-straits trade and economic forum on April 14 at 08:30 Beijing Time (00:30 GMT), and the closing ceremony of the forum on April 15 at 15:30 Beijing Time (07:30 GMT). We will also broadcast the meeting of General Secretary of CPC Central Committee Hu Jintao and honorary chairman of the Chinese Kuomintang Party Lien Chan live on April 16 at 09:30 Beijing Time (01:30 GMT).
