A meeting to brief the latest development of Joint-Africa Pavilion preparation was held yesterday in Gaborone, Capital of Botswana.
Commissioner Generals for World Expo 2010 from more than 10 southern African countries attended the meeting.
Wu Jihong, political Counselor of Chinese Embassy in Botswana, said at the meeting that Expo 2010 is China's first time of hosting a World Expo. Wu also said that Chinese government had promised US$100 million support fund for developing country participants and most African countries have access to the fund. Expo 2010 offered African countries a chance to showcase themselves to the world and the Expo organizers are looking forward to exhibitions of African countries, she added.
Chen Jintian, director of the Joint-Africa Pavilion Management Department of the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination, introduced the latest development of preparation of Joint-Africa Pavilion to the audience. The design team of the pavilion introduced the pavilion's planning and design during the exhibitions. The Bureau's Events Department issued a notice to solicit performances during Expo 2010.
Expo 2010 organizers also signed a participation support agreement with Botswana.
