BEIJING, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) -- China reiterated Wednesday its firm opposition to United States arms sales to Taiwan.
"We strongly oppose U.S. arms sales to Taiwan and our stance is consistent, clear and resolute," Yang Yi, spokesman of the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, told reporters here.
He was responding to a reporter's question on a story in Taiwan's "China Times" newspaper Wednesday, saying the Obama administration would sell 66 F-16 jet fighters to Taiwan.
U.S. arms sales to Taiwan remain a major obstacle to maintaining the healthy growth of the military-to-military relations between China and the United States, Vice Chairman of China's Central Military Commission Xu Caihou said during a visit to the United States in late October. |
