Anhui tourism in spotlight at Taipei Cross-Strait Tourism Exhibition
Guests from the two sides of the Taiwan Straits cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony.
The fifth Cross-Strait Tourism Exhibition was unveiled at Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall at 10am on Aug 13. The exhibition lasted four days and, for the first time, combined exhibition and spot sales. The exhibition area for mainland China reached 8,000 square meters, increasing by three times from previous years. Anhui booked 10 booths this year and, in order to highlight the characteristics of Anhui, all the booths were decorated in the style of Hui-style architecture—white walls and green tiles, blended with China red, lending a feeling of grandeur and elegance to the booths.
The Anhui exhibition area was divided into three parts: South Anhui international tourism destination area, New North Anhui tourism area and Hefei Economic Circle tourism area. Through exquisite designs of the booths, large number of photos, items and promotional materials, the three areas comprehensively displayed Anhui’s tourism resources to visitors and attracted those of Anhui ancestry living in Taiwan.
At 13:00, Hu Xuefan, director of Anhui Tourism Administration, and Wan Yixue, vice mayor of Huangshan city, spoke at a joint interview by more than 30 media groups, including Taiwan Central News Agency (CNA), Taiwan Now News Network, Transpacific Travel &Service Inc and Taiwan Times, in front of the Anhui booth area. Topics included natural landscape and deep culture, ranged from South Anhui to North Anhui. Hu and Wan’s vivid introduction was met with enthusiasm from the journalists.
A small-scale Anhui cuisine exhibit appealed to the visitors and journalists; tempting smells and exquisite styles led to photo flashes going off nonstop. The entire Anhui exhibit area was crammed with huge crowds of visitors.
That night, Hu attended a meeting with Shao Qiwei, president of the Cross-Strait Tourism Exchange Association, and Lien Chan, honorary chairman of the Chinese Kuomintang Party. Lien wished a prosperous future for the tourism industry of Huangshan city and Anhui province.
