Mainland spokesman expresses concern over Taiwan quake casualties

<p>BEIJING -- A spokesman for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council expressed deep concern for those who suffered from the 6.1-magnitude earthquake that jolted Taiwan's Nantou County Wednesday morning.</p>
<p>Expressing condolences for the victims of the quake, spokesman Yang Yi said he hopes those affected will be able to return to normalcy as soon as possible.</p>
<p>The mainland-based Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits also conveyed condolences for the affected people in a letter sent to the Taiwan-based Straits Exchange Foundation.</p>
<p>Taiwanese authorities said at least one person was killed and 19 people injured in the quake.</p>
