BEIJING, March 14 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said Monday that the central government's 12th Five-Year Plan will in no way replace Hong Kong's own development plan.
"The purpose of the central government in laying out a chapter about Hong Kong and Macao in the Five-Year Plan is to support Hong Kong's development," Wen told a press conference after the conclusion of the annual session of the National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature.
Wen noted that the 12th Five-Year Plan will not be imposed on Hong Kong.
"We will adhere to the principle of 'one country, two systems', 'Hong Kong people governing Hong Kong' and a high degree of autonomy. We will act in strict accordance with the Basic Law," Wen said.
