SHANGHAI: The Shanghai World Expo saw its daily visitors top 600,000 Thursday, the highest number since the Expo opened in May, according to figures from the Expo's official website.
As of 8 p.m. Thursday, the number of visitors reached 630,400 as people were using the chance to visit the Expo during the three-day holiday for the Mid-Autumn Festival that began on Wednesday.
Previously, the highest record was set on August 21 when 568,300 people thronged the Expo park.
On Wednesday, the Expo received only 487,000 visitors as light rain and winds in the afternoon might have affected arrivals.
The event, held in China for the first time, opened on May 1, and will last until October 31.
As of Thursday, more than 55 million people had visited the Expo since its opening, according to figures on the Expo's website.
