Shanghai Mayor Han Zheng said during an interview with a Taiwan TV channel that the country's full support have made for sound preparations in the run-up to World Expo 2010 Shanghai while the expectations, understanding and participation of Shanghai residents have helped push the event forward.
Chen Wen-hsien, an anchorwoman from CtiTV, a major Taiwan TV channel, interviewed Han about the city's efforts to weather the global finance crisis, Expo 2010 preparations and turning Shanghai into a global finance, trade and shipping center.
Han told Chen that it is the first time "city" has been used as a World Expo theme. Shanghai Expo's theme "Better city, better life" is connected with Shanghai's development, which is aimed at improving the living standards of residents.
Han said the current construction of Metro lines causes inconvenience, however, the understanding and support from residents shows they understand that the future of the city is bright. Shanghai is going on to be a sustainable city, an ecological city and a city suitable for living, Han said.
