BEIJING -- A number of Taiwanese politicians, including Kuomintang Vice Chairwoman Hung Hsiu-chu, will attend the upcoming 4th Cross-Straits Forum, a spokesman for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council said Wednesday.
Spokesman Yang Yi said at a regular press conference that New Party Chairman Yok Mu-ming, Taiwan's People First Party Secretary-General Chin Ching-sheng and Non-Partisan Solidarity Union Chairman Lin Pin-kun will also attend the forum.
Yang said Taiwanese people from all walks of society are looking forward to the forum, adding that more than 10,000 people are expected to attend the forum.
Oriented toward grassroots communities on the two sides of the Taiwan Strait, the unofficial Straits Forum is a platform for cross-Strait people-to-people exchanges, said Yang.
"We warmly welcome Taiwanese people from all parties and all walks of life, especially ordinary people, to actively join the forum," Yang added.
Under the theme of expanding people-to-people exchanges, strengthening cross-Strait cooperation and promoting mutual development, the forum will be held from June 16 to 22 in the mainland's southeastern province of Fujian. |
