PARAMARIBO, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) met with Surinamean President Desi Bouterse on Monday to boost bilateral ties.
Chen Fengxiang, vice head of the International Department under the CPC Central Committee, said during his meeting with Bouterse that the CPC attaches great importance to its relations with the National Democratic Party of Suriname. He hoped the two countries would keep close ties and strengthen cooperation for the benefit of both peoples.
Bouterse said Suriname will continue to foster the friendship and cooperation between the two countries and parties.
He also mentioned China's increasingly important role in global politics and economy and the Chinese population living in the South American country.
During his three-day visit beginning Monday, Chen will also meet chairperson of the National Assembly Jennifer Geerlings-Simons and other senior government officials.
Chen will also visit Guyana, Barbados and Dominica. |
